PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The mustard seed, fish nets, wine-skins, fig tree, sheep and goats – through these and dozens more parables, Jesus taught and enlightened the hearts of all who had ears to hear. The parables of the Gospels expose us to Jesus’ spirituality and values. They reveal to us Jesus’ Father and the Kingdom of God. They are a cornerstone to grow in discipleship because they have the power to align our values with Jesus’ values, and our worldview with Jesus’ worldview. And yet, Jesus’ parables can also sound wonderfully enigmatic and often with a disorienting power. We will delve into the understanding of the parables through exegetical scholarship. How do Jesus’ parables challenge us today?
