THEME OF THE YEAR - Discernment
WHAT ABOUT DISCERNMENT?
Decisions, decisions, decisions – there are many decisions to be made every single day! Some are minor – “What tie/outfit will I wear?” “Where will I go to relax?” “When will I mow the lawn or mail the Christmas cards?” Such determinations are basically inconsequential in the scheme of life.
However, there are major decisions that can effect the rest of one’s life – or at least determine the direction of the next few years … “Whom will I trust with the details of my spiritual journey?” “Why do I continue to protect / enable someone who has been dishonest / abusive?” “How can I resolve to handle unexpected health information /job loss / end of a relationship / etc.?”
Because decisions vary in intensity, importance and consequences, the process of discernment and other methods of decision making will be explored during this retreat. There will be a focus on how Jesus, Mary and some saints determined the “next step” of their journeys. There will also be opportunities for personal reflections, small and large group sharing and, of course, times of prayer and the celebration of Mass.
